Followup on The Office in Second Life

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Due to travel, I was not able to watch the episode of The Office in Second Life and also totally missed it on NBCs website since they only have the most recent 5 episodes. And I can’t find it anywhere else online. YouTube has really let me down. More specifically, NBC has really let me down. Why not keep up all the episodes?

So I just received this message from Draxtor Despres in world with a link to a news story about The Office and also discussed the writers strike.

Second Life Technology Podcast No 001 - libSL

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Mark Barrett from SLBuzz.com, Jeremy Flagstaff of SLPodcast.com, and guest host Johnny Ming of SecondCast.com interview Otakup0pe Neumann and Bushing Spatula. They are members of the libSecondLife team that has been in the hotseat in the past few days for a program called CopyBot.

The interview ended up being pretty long, but I didn't want to take much out because all of it had value and will inform those that are uninformed about CopyBot and the libSL project.

You can contact Jeremy at SecondLifePodcast@gmail.com, or Mark at SLMarkBarrett@gmail.com.

Crayon to launch

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

A new company to bring new companies into SL is set to launch tomorrow around breakfast time on the west coast. Who launches around breakfast time? Well, Crayon of course. Why breakfast time? Because people live in the UK? Still seems a bit odd.

Anyway, check out the website about the breakfast time slot and try to make it!

Li’l ‘bit o’ video

Monday, October 9th, 2006

The weekend before last, I attended the Podcast & Portable Media Expo in Ontario, CA. From the booth of the Orange County Podcasters, I did a live show. I have yet to receive the audio, but I came across this brief clip.

Chris Melissinos of Sun Microsystems talks to Second Life Podcast

Monday, October 9th, 2006

So the other day I was alerted by my friend Mark Barrett at SLStats.com that there was a little get together in world on Millions of Us island. There were a lot of who’s who at this thing, and one that stuck out was ChrisMelissinos SunMicrosystems. As he was saying his goodbyes, I recieved a friend request from him…. probably aimed at someone else. :-) However, I graciously accepted, and talked to him later about what Sun is up to in SL.

He told there there is an announcement on Tuesday the 10th of October, at 10:00am SL time. I humbly asked if he would talk to be beforehand so I could release a podcast to coinside with the in world press release. Well I am happy to say I just completed that interview, and I know more than you do about what is going to happen tomorrow :P Mums the word. :-)

So check back at Second_Life Podcast for that audio while the announcements are going to be made in world.

A slurl to the event.

A little bit of background:
An article in The Red Herring talks about it, also pointed out by Eric Rice, 3PointD, and Millions Of Us.

Second Life Podcast No 003 - Intellagirl Tully aka Sarah Robbins

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

In this episode I talk with Intellagirl Tully. Intellagirl teaches inside of Second Life for Ball State University. You can find more information about her on her website or on Wikipedia.

This episide turned out quite lengthy, so we warned, it is about an hour 10 minutes of goodness. We really do cover lot of ground in that time, and in my humble opinion, is entirely worth your time.

Some other links mentioned in the episode are:

lost SecondCast episode

Friday, September 15th, 2006

This is a short clip of the lost SecondCast episode that I recorded while at SLCC '06. It is not the highest quality, I know, but have you seen the size of the Cannon Powershot SD450, quite amazing actually.

Anyway, enjoy:

The goals of the Second Life Podcast

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I’ve been giving this some thought, but I would like to get some feedback from you, the reader and listener.

I have called this site the Second Life Podcast. In reality, I hope to do two different podcasts from here.

The first, a general podcast. I want to talk to anyone in Second Life about anything. I can have panels once in a while, I can have guest hosts, of course I will have guests (possibly even including Lindens). Anything that is interesting, I want to talk about it.

The second, a developer focused podcast. First, let me define developer in the way I am using it. A developer is someone that writes code. Other types of developers are covered in my general Second Life Podcast. In this podcast I would like to set up a panel, or a round table rather, and discuss the hot topics, the not so hot topics, and pretty much anything that needs discussing. I also want to do interviews with developers.

So lets take it one level higher, if we were on Google Maps, I would be scrolling out, getting a bigger picture. I want to do two of each of these podcasts a month. Two weeks of Second Life Podcast, two weeks of Second Life Developer Podcast. I want to do one of the DevPods as a round table. Get a group of developers together to discuss what going on in SL development. That that needs to change, things that needs improvement, and improvements that needs praising. The other week I want to interview a developer and see what they are up to, in addition to seeing what they would like to see in SL development. As for the general SLPodcast, I don’t see a need for the round table, since SecondCast covers that very well. Having said that, if what you want is another roundtable with a different group of folks, let me know, it is certainly not out of the question if there is a need for it.

If this all sounds like total garbage, tell me! The bane of most every podcaster I know is the lack of feedback. Even on the blog itself, I get hundreds of hits a day, and who knows how many on the RSS feed, but I’m lucky to get a comment. I’m excited to see the growth, I would also love to see growth in the feedback. I know it is my site and my podcasts, but I’m dong them for you, and your feedback is important to how I operate and continue.

What do you say? Email me at SecondLifePodcast@gmail.com, leave a comment, or contact me in world. You can do that by dropping me a notecard or IM me at Jeremy Flagstaff.
